01/14 Fiction I with Mark Clements
Learn the basics of fiction in this nine week class with Mark Clements!
There are almost as many “how to write fiction” options as there are fiction writers. This course differs from most in that it’s not entirely subjective; there’s actually some science to the craft of writing fiction, and some craft to the art.
Character development, plotting, setting the scene, choosing words and images…we’ll cover all of this and much more besides, including how to clear your mind and prime it for creativity.
Whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced writer who feels stuck, this course will provide guidance, evidence, practice, and unique perspectives to help you for the rest of your writing life.
And all in only nine classes!
Mark A. Clements has published four novels (one a Theodore Geisel “Best of the Best” award winner with the San Diego Book Awards). He has been leading read and critique groups at the Southern California Writer’s Conference since 1989, and at the La Jolla Writer’s Conference since its inception. He believes that the best results come with a group managed with loose reins, humor, and an emphasis on the positive.
