03/31 Poetry for Novelists with Mark Clements
Join this exciting class especially for novelists who want to write poetry to improve their work!
If you’re writing a novel of any kind—straight genre, mainstream, literary—you can learn a lot from poetry. Really? you ask. What kinds of things? How could poetry possibly help you improve your thriller novel, or mystery, or young adult story? And most importantly…will you have to actually readany poetry?
In this class, Mark A. Clements will help you see poetry in a new way (or maybe see it for the first time), explore and develop techniques that will enrich and empower your fiction, and—who knows?—perhaps even inspire an appreciation for poetry itself. It happened to him, and he writes horror.
Mark A. Clements has published three novels and been leading read and critique groups at the Southern California Writer’s Conference since 1989, and at the La Jolla Writer’s Conference since its inception. He believes that the best results come with a group managed with loose reins, humor, and an emphasis on the positive.
