05/03 Writing for the Young Adult with Laura Preble
Learn all about this exciting genre with an experienced YA writer!
Writing for the young adult audience is a bit like wrestling a tiger: frightening, exciting, and probably crazy. But if you’d like to work on your YA idea, come to this informative hands-on session from high school librarian and YA writer Laura Preble (Queen Geek Social Club, Out). Discuss the current market, the differences between YA and other genres, and find out what your audience is reading. We’ll also be building a YA character from the ground up, so you should leave the workshop with a viable main character who can drive your story home. All writing levels encouraged.
Laura Preble is the award-winning author of the young adult series, Queen Geek Social Club (Penguin/Berkley Jam), which includes the novels Queen Geeks in Love and Prom Queen Geeks, and Out.
