We’ve all seen the bad presentations, where a speaker drones on with a slideshow full of bullet points which he reads from the screen. This workshop will discuss not only some of the technical aspects of PowerPoint but also the writing techniques for preparing a public speech using slides.
We’ll also discuss the use of handouts (when they are needed, when to hand them out, what they should contain) and some public speaking tips for improving your presentations.
There are certain things you should do when writing a presentation using slides which are different than a speech without visuals. Learn how to keep your audience interested and wow them with your talk.
Kim Keeline is a college teacher of 15 years who then went on to be a writer, web designer, and marketing professional. She was once hired by a military contractor for a year to make PowerPoint slides for presentations which were presented to high-level officials in Washington, D.C. In addition, she has presented at numerous academic conferences, as well as local venues like retirement homes on a wide range of topics.
