08/14 Deadline for Submissions to A Year In Ink VOLUME 11 (2018)

A Year in Ink (YII) is an anthology of the creative work of San Diego County writers, published each year by San Diego Writers, Ink. The annual publication represents a sampling of the tangible results of our community’s diligent scribblers.

Volume 11 will include short stories, novel and memoir excerpts, creative nonfiction, satire, flash fiction and nonfiction, and poetry. Every year our Anthology authors are a diverse group, young and old, new writers and much-published veterans.

SDWI receives numerous submissions each summer;  A Year in Ink follows a blind submission process; authors are not identified until the selection process ends.

Submissions for VOLUME 11 will be open from early July till August 14 Midnight (DEADLINE): See process below.

Annual Launch Party in June 2018 (Date TBA): ANTHOLOGY READING AND PARTY AT OLD TOWN THEATRE

Eligibility: Publication will be limited to residents of San Diego County, with some exceptions: former San Diego Writers, Ink members who currently live outside the area are also invited to submit. We also invite SDWI instructors, both current and previous, local and far-flung, to submit their work. All work must be previously unpublished.

Poetry: Submit up to three poems, single-spaced in generic font. Maximum 35 lines per poem.

Prose: Submit fiction, creative nonfiction, and memoir and novel excerpts, double-spaced in generic font. Maximum 3,500 words, no more than two entries.

Flash Fiction/Nonfiction: Submit a maximum of three pieces, 1,000 word maximum per flash.

Reading fee: There is no reading fee for current San Diego Writers, Ink members. If you are a resident of San Diego County and NOT a member, we ask $5.00 per entry to SDWI to help support our volunteer-driven effort.  SDWI is a nonprofit organization and we are grateful for your support.  PAY NOW

 

PROCESS:

  1.  Prepare your pieces.  Each piece should be its own file.  File names should be title of piece.  No names or identifying info on file anywhere.
  2. If you are not a member, either become one or pay the $5 per piece reading fee.
  3. Submit.  We are using SUBMITTABLES to take your submissions. You may have to sign up for a free account.
  4. Deadline July 31.  First readers will begin before the first week of August.  If you are interested in being a First Reader, please email contact@sandiegowriters.org.  First Readers will finish by September and the Editor will begin the selection process.  Selection process usually ends in December.
