Recess for Writers: A Playful Provoking of Your Creative Side!
Who says recess is just for kids? If you like to play, come join this fun, interactive workshop that will help you break through writer’s block and pursue new possibilities.Our need for fun can get overlooked in our serious and fast-paced world, but research shows that having fun, trying new things and changing perspective unlocks pathways in the brain that lead to increased creativity and overall happiness. In this playful workshop, we’ll fire those right-brain synapses with guided group games, creative activities, and yes, writing exercises, exploring new perspectives for our writing and our lives. (There may also be candy).
Diane Malloy, M.S.W., is a writer and educator who facilitates the popular Pen to Paper writing group for SDWI at the La Jolla Library. She has written several published articles, short stories and grants, and has developed/taught dozens of classes on various topics in San Diego and throughout the U.S. Diane has acted in plays and films and served as a rehabilitation center director, management consultant, counselor, and group facilitator. She has also served as a volunteer with many local organizations. She loves to dance and has sung in chorus groups, soloing only if coerced. She plays piano but will disavow the fact that she played the ukelele in a high school talent show. Diane plans to finish her novels and have a script produced sometime this century.
