If you’re looking to support your non-profit organization and have heard that there is funding out there, this workshop will help you understand what it takes to produce a successful grant application. You will come away from this interactive class with an understanding of the process of grant development, knowledge of the common elements of grant proposals, how to align your mission, vision, and program activities to respond to a funding request, and writing tips for making your grant request compelling and fundable. You’ll receive a packet of tools to use as well as resources that will support your quest for grant funding.  And we promise to make this hands-on and fun to learn!

martiAfter more than 15 years working in grant development and management in the non-profit sector, Marti Hess stepped away from the structured office environment and launched her own business combining teaching, coaching, and creativity.  During her tenure, Marti garnered over $8 million in grant funding for her non-profit employers.  As a MAPs team member, she provides expertise in government and foundation grants, program development, and strategic planning.  Marti received her bachelor’s degree in health science from SDSU.  She is a certified coach and works with groups and individuals to help them maximize their potential.

alyAly Evans has been facilitating grant and resource development for K-12 public education for over 8 years through successfully-funded grant programs for both San Diego and San Marcos Unified School Districts. She has coordinated numerous collaborative programs between formal and informal education with local university partners.  Pulling from her more than 15 year employment at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, Aly’s focus on mission-driven results informs her nonprofit management and program development activity.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Northern Colorado and a Masters of Management degree from the University of Phoenix. Aly provides expertise to the MAPs Team in building capacity for resource development among nonprofit, arts, educational and health organizations, ensuring their essential programming.  The mother of two college-aged children, she lives with her husband in Ocean Beach, California.

Pat FitzmorrisDr. Pat Fitzmorris received her doctorate from Northern Arizona University, Bachelor of Arts from UCLA, and Masters Degree from University of San Diego. Currently she is employed as a Professional Expert with the San Diego Unified School District and an Adjunct Professor with National University.  She has worked in the San Diego County Office of Education, Sweetwater Union High School District and San Diego State University Research Foundation.  For over 20 years, she has provided leadership in the development and management of millions of dollars of Federal and State Department grants.  Her areas of focus include: Healthy Start and Medi-Cal Partnership management, violence prevention, community collaboration, and Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Prevention.   She lives in San Diego with her husband and two daughters.
