Have you thought about writing a picture book?

This workshop will explore what makes a successful picture book and open up the possibilities of how to create your own!

Published picture book writers Andrea Zimmerman and Sarah Tomp will guide participants as they tap into their inner child in order to write stories for children that are well structured and engaging.

Using popular contemporary and classic picture books, they will guide participants as they:

  • Examine the four plot types found in picture books.
  • Discover how to create compelling characters that appeal to children.
  • Explore and develop tools to write and revise the best stories for kids

This workshop will be a lively mix of discussion, small group activities and individual creation. Participants will use storyboarding techniques to create a first draft of a picture book. The workshop will also provide resources for further enrichment.
