2017-08/03 Join the Writers’ Community and Connect with Readers with Penn Wallace

Date: canceled Time: 6:30pm to 8pm Number of sessions: One Day Class Members: $23 Nonmembers: $27 Location: San Diego Writers, Ink, ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station, 2730 Historic Decatur Road, Barracks 16, 2nd Floor Above Women's Museum, San Diego, CA 92106

Writing is not a lonely profession. The more people you can network with, the better you’ll do. Both in developing your writing style, attracting an audience and selling your books.

You will learn how to connect with other writers in your genre (and even not in your genre). Michael Connelly is Wallace’s idol. Imagine Wallace’s thrill when Connelly sent him a tweet? How about when Connelly sent him three tweets? This is the kind of hard work necessary to build your writing business.

The next step is to connect with your audience. You must have a mailing list. We’ll discuss how to build it and what to do with it. The key is to answer each fan email you get right away. Make them feel like they are part of your team. Ask the questions. Which cover do they prefer? You’re thinking of writing two books, which one appeals the most to them? Get them involved. Once you develop a team of loyal readers, your success is within reach.

Pendelton C. Wallace is the author of Blue Water & Me, Tall Tales of Adventures With My Father; and Christmas Inc., and is currently writing a thriller series starring Ted Higuera, a young Latino computer security analyst.  In the latest book in the series, Bikini Baristas, a missing coffee stand owner disappears in the desert and leads Ted and his friends on a merry quest.

PLEASE NOTE: It is best to register at least a week before the start of a class to help our instructors prepare and ensure that a class does not get cancelled or rescheduled.
