2017-09/24 Turn Your Travel Mementos Into An Artistic Journal Collage with Maggie Espinosa

Date: canceled Time: 10am to 1pm Number of sessions: One Day Class Members: $45 Nonmembers: $54 Location: San Diego Writers, Ink, ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station, 2730 Historic Decatur Road, Barracks 16, 2nd Floor Above Women's Museum, San Diego, CA 92106
When traveling, many of us pick up trinkets as a remembrance of places we’ve been — a theater admission ticket, colorful foreign currency, a coaster from a favorite bar, a wonderful hotel receipt, beautiful business cards, a fan, menus, the cover from a delicious box of chocolates, a paper bag logo from a divine loaf of bread, swizzle sticks, a small flag, matchbooks, patches, stickers, airline tickets — the list is unlimited.
When these seemingly insignificant items are combined with sentiments from the trip, it results in a multimedia collage to display in your house. The keepsakes don’t have to be from far flung destinations; they can be from a San Diego “staycation.” This class will teach you how to combine the collected pieces along with blurbs you write evoking fond memories these souvenirs represent.
So, start collecting fun things, and I’ll see you in the Fall!
The following are suggested items to bring to class:
1) One poster board the desired size of your finished collage (any color).
2) Numerous items collected on vacation. The number of pieces depends on the size of your poster board.
3) Small painting kit.
4) Pieces of material.
5) Scissors.
6) Glue.
7) Tape.
8) Photos & maps.
9) Laptop (if you have one).
10) Your imagination 😊.
