Speech humanizes characters. You’ll learn how to create dialogue that moves naturally and conversationally within your story. In this workshop, you’ll receive tips, formatting and examples, plus you’ll work on writing some dialogue in class.

Cathy Scott, a Los Angeles Times bestselling author, investigative journalist, and blogger for “Psychology Today,” has written eleven books. Her work has appeared in “Time-Life Books,” “New York Times Magazine,” “Los Angeles Times,” Reuters, and “Las Vegas Sun.” Best known for penning “The Killing of Tupac Shakur” and “Murder of a Mafia Daughter,” she taught journalism for five years at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her latest work, “The Crime Book,” was released in the U.S. and U.K. in May 2017 by DK Books. Recent TV appearances include Dateline NBC, the Today Show, and Vanity Fair’s crime series. She lives in the mountains of San Diego with her two rescued dogs.
