2018-03/03 A Group Journaling Workshop: The Stream Within with Tricia Ornelas

Date: Saturday, March 3, 2018 Time: 10am to 1pm Number of sessions: One Session Only Members: $45 Nonmembers: $54 Location: San Diego Writers, Ink, Arts District Liberty Station, 2730 Historic Decatur Road, #202-204, Barracks 16, 2nd Floor Above Women's Museum, San Diego, CA 92106

This Group Journaling Workshop offers a sampling of a more intensive journaling process. Journaling is often considered a highly personal stream of consciousness style of writing. This workshop structures these qualities into a process of histories, dialogues, and “mind work” to access areas of the psyche, our “inner stream”, and pathways to creativity and reflection. Aside from a brief dream journal and daily log, writing will be done during the workshop. There is an interesting energy in this—and follow intentional prompts which elicit conversations with our past, present, and even the unknown future! This workshop offers a safe nurturing environment to explore inner thoughts, gain perspective and awaken creative connections. Often characters, poetry, dialogue, and plot lines lie within our journal pages!

Tricia Ornelas has been teaching composition, creative writing and literature courses in high schools and colleges for twenty years. She currently loves teaching at City College and Grossmont College because the students are the absolute best! Her passion has always been journaling and creative writing, and she has finally wrapped her head around how to develop both into a workshop format. Tricia has a background in intensive journaling, a B.A. in Psychology, an M.A. in English, and a deep appreciation for the power of writing.

PLEASE NOTE: It is best to register at least a week before the start of a class to help our instructors prepare and ensure that a class does not get canceled or rescheduled.
