Closing Reception of "Macrocosm" by Patrick McMahon
This show consists of three bodies of work all relating to the idea of macrocosm. First, a series of abstract paintings which could depict a universe or a microbe. Second, a collection of photographs, most of which are abstract macro shots taken no more than half an inch from the subject. Lastly, a slice of life I call Dangle Shots. These were taken randomly while walking the streets of New York, San Francisco, and San Diego while dangling my camera at my side. They capture unique, engaging moments and could be said to present a macrocosm of society. Also in this show is the image, Becoming Real, which will be the cover of my memoir, Becoming Patrick, to be published in the spring.
