04/01 deadline for Contest: In the Time of the Butterflies writing contest
CONTEST DEADLINE: EXTENDED TO APRIL 1, 2014 (by midnight)
Your submission should be in reaction to the reading/viewing of
In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez
particularly the theme of how briefly life flashes and is gone.
Top SDWI winners will be published in our blog and have their work featured in a performance in mid-April, read by the actors of Write Out Loud.
SDWI length guideline maximums are:
Flash Fiction: 750 words or less
Poetry or Monologue: 750 words or less
Shorter submissions are both acceptable and encouraged.
You may only submit one piece for this contest.
Contest fees: $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers.
You may submit one piece and must register for the contest using the BUY NOW button above, paying your fee. Then you may email your submission in an email to Submissions@sandiegowriters.org.
The submission should be an attachment as a pdf or Word document and should not have your name or other identifying information other than title. In the email, please give us your name, contact info, and title of the work.
You must be 25 or older and have some connection to San Diego County to submit, whether you are a current resident, have been one in the past, or visit to take courses at SDWI from elsewhere.
All your pieces will be submitted as separate attachments in Word files or pdf. Do NOT include any identifying information (i.e. your name, address, phone number, email, NOTHING that could identify you) in the file title or on the manuscript as manuscripts are read blindly.
