The beautiful part of writing is that you don't have to get it right the first time, unlike, say, a brain surgeon. You can always do it better, find the exact word, the apt phrase, the leaping simile.  ~Robert Cormier

So you’ve finished a draft of a short story or a novel chapter and now what? Now you need to share it with other serious writers in a comfortable, relaxed environment. This class is a six week workshop where we will critique the fiction brought in by you and your classmates. Each week we will read class members’ fiction, discuss revision strategies, and provide support, encouragement, and suggestions for how to strengthen the work from sentence level to characters, plot, and endings. In addition, there will be mini craft lectures by the instructor inspired by the critiques

This class is structured so that each participant will have the opportunity to workshop two pieces of writing over the six weeks.
