This position is for outgoing volunteers who enjoy the thrill of the chase. We’re looking for a few enthusiastic volunteers to solicit donations of food, beverages, and writerly goods for our events and programs, under the guidance of the Donations Coordinator, who will manage the donations and pass along instructions.

Hours per week: 1-3, depending on event schedule

Days/Times: Varies; involves writing, phoning, and pounding the pavement

Length of Agreement: Preferably indefinitely, but minimum one year

Description:

• Work with In-Kind Donations Coordinator to solicit needed items for events and programs
• Procure these items (SDWI letterhead, tax benefit info, and training provided)
• Help build and maintain list of individuals, corporations, and other donors
• Work with Donations Coordinator to avoid redundancy and to thank donors
• Keep an eye out for possible donors during every waking moment
• Help with pick-up and delivery of donated items

Requirements:

• Individuals should be motivated, outgoing, and have no qualms about asking for free stuff
• As a representative of San Diego Writers, must exhibit enthusiasm, patience, and professionalism
• Creativity, persistence, and perseverance a huge plus – you never know where the next donors might be, or what they might have to offer
