Abstracts in Nature by Dave Ness
“Nature is the ultimate abstract artist. This can be demonstrated by structures in a leaf or columns of rock created by cooled lava. Other times, nature’s wonders are shown by natural rhythms found in the forces of water that have carved designs in sand, created curves over waterfalls and nourished roots on wild journeys of discovery. Random designs, such as the asynchronous intersection of a reflected sunset and wind-driven ripples on the water’s surface, enthuse me to pick up my camera too.
Often these abstract works of art are lost in the totality of the grander scene. What I find most interesting are the micro scene; the patterns and randomness found when one slows down and focuses on elemental details.” –D.N.
Dave Ness considers his engineering background vital to capturing compelling images as his training allows him to understand the technical aspects of the camera and optics. This comfort level allows him to solely focus on the artistic side his art. Dave’s skills in photography come from extensive study, experimentation, and by sharing techniques with other photographers. He prints, mounts, and stretches nearly all of his pieces, retaining control over the quality of each canvas.
