During this four-week course you will report, write, and edit your own piece of long-form (6,000 word) magazine journalism. You'll learn the tools and techniques you need to get your interviews and transcribe them, crystallize your ideas, adhere to facts and ethics, achieve your word count, be both entertaining and exacting, satisfy your editor and your audience, and, most importantly, meet your deadline. Participants are requested to bring a tape recorder to the first session.

An award-winning poet and one of San Diego's hardest working journalists, Geoff Bouvier is the author of more than 50 cover stories for the San Diego Reader, featuring subjects from immigration to commercial fishing, from animals to plants, from sports to the arts.

Here's what former students have to say about Geoff:

"Geoff's ideas and enthusiasm stimulated my own desires to write."

"[This class] whet my appetite for more of Geoff's teaching.

"Geoff is completely approachable to writers of all levels."
