San Diego Writers, Ink Celebrates NaNoWriMo
(National Novel Writing Month)
NaNoWriMo Preparation Workshop
Sunday, October 14
2-4 pm
The Ink Spot
Write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days? Should you do it? How do you start? Are you nuts? NaNoWriMo finish-line crosser, Nicole Vollrath, explains the madness and rewards of embracing this ambitious personal goal. We'll talk about what you'll get out of it, whether you should commit, where to find the time, and survival tactics. We'll also do some pre-writing exercises to get you primed for the wild month when you commit to being a novelist. www.nanowrimo.org
NaNoWriMo Writing Community Writing Time
Sundays, Nov. 4, 11, 18 & 25
1-5 pm
The Ink Spot
Writing time at The Ink Spot. Just bring your laptop and drop in to write in the company of others. We'll enforce quiet time from :15 after to the top of the hour, then social breaks from :00 to :15 with bitching, grumbling and high-fiving encouraged. We’ll discuss "What's this week's frustration" and what can be done about it and offer a"Writing Prompt of the hour."
Nicole Vollrath, MFA, earned her master’s degree in creative writing at Emerson College in Boston and an OMG in NaNoWriMo-ism with five friends last February. Still giddy from crossing the 50,000 word finish line, incarcerating her inner critic, and banging out a draft that stinks like a garbage scow, Nicole is eager to play head cheerleader for SDWI during the official word marathon this November. Rah!
