Tammy is originally from Hawaii, and now lives in Los Angeles. She works in public relations and spends her daytime hours writing marketing and press material. She obtained her MFA in creative writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles. Tammy is currently working on a coming-of-age novel, a collection of short stories, and a screenplay.
Recently, Tammy won first place in the River Styx Micro-Fiction Contest for her very short story, "Gifts from My Mother," which will be published in the Spring issue. This same magazine will publish a second story from her, "The Sweetness of Moths." Both stories were written at one of SDWI’s workshops. In a different competition, her short story, "Guava," is a finalist in the Lunch Hour Stories Very Short Story Contest. “I’m very excited to generate new material. Writing prompts and exercises work well for me in terms of accessing the unconscious and unearthing rich material. I also look forward to interacting with San Diego's community of writers.”
